Making Cordage Gifts Together - November 29th, 2pm-4pm

Studio in Boonville, CA

The first cordage necklace that I made was from my great grandmother's silk handkerchief. It was such a gift to have her memory and my effort intertwined into a necklace that I could wear to remember her and our times together. Please join me in my studio during the holiday weekend for an afternoon of making cordage together with tea and a cozy fire. Boonville is a beautiful place and I am happy to share recommendations of places to stay and visit if you would like to make the two hour journey from the Bay Area. You are invited to bring fabric and stories that remind you of someone or some time special to you. I will guide you through the process of turning them into gifts that you can share. People have been making cordage for at least 60,000 years. We will learn how to apply this simple process to fabrics - they can be worn, stained, ripped, and even what could be considered ugly fabrics can make beautiful and unique cordage that can be worn as a necklace or hat band, or used as a garland or for anything you might need a length of string or twine. Please bring at least one piece of fabric that is roughly the size of a piece of letter paper. You can bring a few choices if you like. While Most fabrics are willing to become cordage, it is easiest to learn on light weight wovens made from natural fibers such as a cotton button down shirt or silk handkerchief. I look forward to meeting you and sharing this process together.

I am delighted to share my studio with you. In person studio classes are limited to eight participants. All materials are provided but you are encouraged to bring meaningful fabrics to work with. If you are unable to attend you are welcome to apply the non refundable deposit towards another class. Thank you and I look forward to meeting you!
